Services – Community Access and Personal Assistance

Community Access services through Kentucky’s SCL and MPW waivers support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in building meaningful connections and active roles within their communities. This service focuses on developing social skills, independence, and natural supports by helping individuals participate in community activities of their choosing—such as volunteering, recreation, learning opportunities, and social events. Community Access is designed to promote inclusion, confidence, and personal growth while supporting each person to explore interests, build relationships, and work toward their personal goals in everyday community settings.

Personal Assistance services through Kentucky’s SCL and MPW waivers provide individualized, hands-on support to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live safely and independently in their homes and communities. Services are tailored to each person’s needs and may include help with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, mobility, health and safety supports, and participation in everyday routines. The focus of Personal Assistance is to promote independence, dignity, and choice while supporting each individual to live a meaningful life aligned with their goals and preferences.
